chilly-afternoon-on-the-palouse
Well I finally got the plane up in the air for almost 2 hours of flying and 6 takeoffs and landings. Even though I had a lightbulb in the cowling and a blanket over the top, the engine was only 50F and since it was so cold outside, it took several minutes to get the oil temp into the green. I taxied up and down 4/22 at WN26 and managed to foul the plugs a little so I had to burn that off before I took off.
There were a few clouds in the sky, but it was pretty easy to manage flying around them. Traffic was pretty light at Pullman where I made 3 practice landings. There was a Bonanza, the normal Horizon commuter, and another plane or two.
I hopped over to Colfax (S94 if you're keeping score at home, not 00W), and made one iffy landing, realized that there was actually a crosswind and then managed to do good on the next landing.
After that, I buzzed up to Oakesdale and did a flyover of a friends house and then headed back to good old Palouse airport :)
The Sun was blazing in from the west about the time I landed on 22 and the glare was pretty rough, but I managed to land it pretty decent.
For some reason I seemed to be a little on the drag it in side of things with my landings, whereas I'm usually always too high. Maybe I'm just honing in on better landings.
Hopefully I'll get some pics and video from my next flight. We'll see what the weather brings!
